Fourier integral solutions to radially symmetric elasticity problems

[摘要] A study is made of the motivation involved in the use of Fourier integrals in the formulation of solutions to certain radially symmetric elasticity problems. A new class of such problems is studied: that of stresses in a half space penetrated by a circular cylindrical hole with axis normal to the bounding plane. It is demonstrated by solution of an example that this class of problems may be solved using a large, high-speed computing machine. A problem related to stresses around an oil well is also studied.
