Serbia : Investment Climate Asessment

[摘要] The objective of this Investment ClimateAssessment (ICA) is to (1) provide Serbian experts inacademia and in government, as well as Bank staff, with anempirical analysis of the investment climate in Serbia; and(2) to discuss policy options, based on this analysis, forcreating an enabling environment conducive to private sectordevelopment, thereby increasing and maintaining enterpriseproductivity and profitability leading to sustainablegrowth. The study is part of a Bank-wide effort, managed andfunded by the Investment Climate Unit of the InvestmentClimate Department, to analyze the effects of variouscharacteristics of the investment climate on productivity inan international context. One of the main messages of thisICA is the need to increase investor confidence in Serbia;the ICA identifies a number of policies that, ifimplemented, could improve the perception of Serbianinvestment climate. In particular, it should be stressedthat reversals in policy and lack of respect for propertyrights on investors that have already invested in Serbiacould cause serious harm.
