Optimization of control system with time lag

[摘要] The integral-square value of the error in the output to a general second order linear system disturbed by a unit impulse was calculated. The condition that this integral be a minimum was considered to be an indication of optimum control. The value of the proportional control factor that thus optimizes the system was investigated under the condition that there exist time lags in the control system or in the controlled system. Pade approximations for the exponential function were used in the analysis.
