Determinants of Declining Water Quality

[摘要] This is a background paper for"Quality Unknown: The Invisible Water Crisis."(Report No. 140973)This review examines determinants of poorwater quality and natural and anthropomorphic factorsdetermining water quality. It also discusses various waterquality parameter measurement tools that can be applied insitu or remotely to assess water quality easily someasurements can be used to evaluate the economic impact ofpoor water quality. The correlation of water qualityindicators to determinants (natural or anthropogenic) isalso summarized based on the abundance of literaturesupporting the relationship. In doing so, this paper takes athematic approach and applied the following search phrasesto the literature review: "determinants of (parameter)in surface water," "drivers of (parameter) insurface water," and "remote sensing techniques toestimate (parameter)."
