CHILDHOOD TUBERCULOSIS: A NEGLECTED PARADIGM IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

[摘要] Impact of pulmonary TB as a globalemergency has been established by theWorld Health Organization (WHO) since1993. However, in general, the disease isonly be evaluated in the adult population.Pulmonary tuberculosis in childrenbecomes a neglected aspect of the TBepidemic today. In fact, childrenpulmonary tuberculosis occurs in over 20%in all cases in many countries having highincidents of TB.1 The global burden ofpulmonary tuberculosis in children is alsovery vague due to the lack of datareporting and recording of TB patients forthis population through the Nationalcontrol program of TB. It is alsocomplicated by the difficulty of diagnosisin children with bacteriologicalexamination.
