Combination of photodynamic therapy and stimulator of interferon genes (STING) agonist inhibits colorectal tumor growth and recurrence

[摘要] Great progress has been made in the clinical use of photodynamic therapy (PDT) for the treatment of patients withsuperficial tumors [1]. However, cancer recurrence andmetastasis have limited the application of PDT in the treatment of solid tumors and advanced cancers. In this context,combining PDT with other complementary immunotherapy regimens may overcome these limitations of PDT [2].Therefore, we aimed to elucidate the inhibitory efficiencyof PDT in combination with an agonist stimulator of interferon genes (STING) in colorectal cancer (CRC) modelsand to explore the underlying regulatory effects on the hostimmune system. STING agonists play an important rolein the induction of innate anti-tumor immunity on tumorgrowth and recurrence potential. All methods used in thiswork are described in the Supplementary Material.
