Highly efficient integrated rectifier and voltage boosting circuits for energy harvesting applications
[摘要] This paper presents novel circuit concepts for integratedrectifiers and voltage converting interfaces for energy harvestingmicro-generators. In the context of energy harvesting, usuallyonly small voltages are supplied by vibration-driven generators.Therefore, rectification with minimum voltage losses and lowreverse currents is an important issue. This is realized by novelintegrated rectifiers which were fabricated and are presented inthis article. Additionally, there is a crucial need for dynamicload adaptation as well as voltage up-conversion. A circuitconcept is presented, which is able to obtain both requirements.This generator interface adapts its input impedance for an optimalenergy transfer efficiency. Furthermore, this generator interfaceprovides implicit voltage up-conversion, whereas the generatoroutput energy is stored on a buffer, which is connected to theoutput of the voltage converting interface. As simulationsexpress, this fully integrated converter is able to boostac-voltages greater than |0.35 V| to an output dc-voltageof 2.0 V–2.5 V. Thereby, high harvesting efficiencies above80% are possible within the entire operational range.
