Feeding value of steam treated sugar cane bagasse in ruminant rations
[摘要] Inordertoevaluatetheeffectsofsteamtreatmentuponsugarcanebagassethreeexperimentswereconducted.Thefirstwastodeterminatethebestconditionstotreatthebagasse.Fourpressuresweretested(13;15;17and19kgf/cm2)during3to10minutesinafactorialdesign.Theconditionthatgavethehighestinsitudigestibilitywas19/6(kgf/cm2)/(min).Thesecondexperimentwastoevaluatethepotencialandtheeffectivedegradationofthebagassetreatedunderthebestconditionsetabove.Theresultsindicateahighpotentialdegradation(68.96%in48hr),avalueverycloseto74.22%in48hrfromahighqualityhay.Nevertheless,theeffectivedegradationwasonly47.90%in48hr,indicatingpoorrumenconditions.Thethirdexperimentwastostudytheeffectsoftreatedbagasseupontherumenenvironment.Itwasconcludedthatthemainconstraintofusingsteamtreatedbagassewasitsfastrateofpassagethroughtherumen.
