Effect of ammonia treatment of wheat straw and level of concentrate on performance of chinese yellow cattle

[摘要] Anexperimentwasconductedwith16bullsoftheChineseYellowCattlebreed.Theywere12-18monthsofageatthestartofthetrialandtheexperimentlastedfor182days.Theexperimentwasa2x2factorialtrialinwhichthesteersweregiveneitheruntreatedorammoniatreatedwheatstrawadlibitum,togetherwithadailyallowanceofeither0.5or1.0kg/dofasupplementconsistingofwheatbran(0.75)andcottonseedmeal(0.25).Boththeeffectofammoniatreatmentandlevelofsupplementationweresignificant.Thedailyintakesofuntreatedandtreatedstrawwere5.07and5.12kgandtheliveweightgainswere0.18and0.57kg/drespectively.Theliveweightgainsforthebullsreceiving0.5and1.0kg/dofsupplementwere0.30and0.45kg/drespectively.Themosteconomicdietwastheammoniatreatedstrawwith1kg/dofsupplement.Attheendofthetrial,thecattleonthattreatmentweresufficientlyfatforslaughter.
