SULPHUR FRACTIONS OF LEGUMES AS INDICATORS OF SULPHUR DEFICIENCY
[摘要] Astudyof157locations,representing18soilseriesinwestcentralAlberta,revealedthatyieldresponsesofalfalfa,alsikecloverandredclovertoapplicationsofsulphurfertilizerwerenotconfinedtoeitherspecificsoilseriesordefinitegeographicalareas.Samplesofthethreelegumecropsfrom74ofthetestlocationswereanalysedtodeterminetheusefulnessofthreesulphurfractionsandoftheratiototalnitrogen:totalsulphurasindicatorsoftheneedforsulphurfertilization.Extractablesulphurandextractablesulphatewerepresentinconsiderablylargerquantitiesinalfalfaandalsikeclovergrownonnon-sulphur-deficientsoilsascomparedwithsamplesfromsoilsdeficientinthatelement.Thesedeterminationsofferapossiblemeansofdetectingtheneedforsulphurfertilizationwiththosetwolegumecrops.Whiletotalsulphurandthetotalnitrogen-totalsulphurratioalsoshoweddifferences,theirmagnitudewasnotofthesameorderaswiththesetwofractions.Similardeterminatio...
