Electron microscopic observations of the developing mouse eye: I. Basement membranes during early development and lens formation
[摘要] Astudywascarriedoutoncertainultrastructuralfeaturesofthedevelopmentoftheopticandlenticularprimordiaofthemouseembryowithrelationtocertainfeaturesofadulteye.Itwasobservedthatabasementmembranecompletelyenclosesboththeopticandlenticularprimordiafromtheirbeginningsandthatthisboundingfeaturepersistsintheadult.Twobasementmembranes,thoseoftheectodermandopticcup,separatetheopposingtissuesatthesiteofpossiblelensinduction.Thesebasementmembranesmaybecontinuouswithoneanotherattheanteriorneuropore.Basementmembranesarewelldefinedonneuroectodermalstructuresbeforebeingobservableonnearbybloodvessels.Theectodermalbasementmembraneexistspriortolensformation.Thefirstofthelenscapsulelaminaemaybeidenticalwiththisbasementmembrane.Lenscapsulelaminationisalreadymultipleat12daysofgestation.Theseparationofthelensfromtheectodermhastheappearanceofaconstrictionprocessinwhichaclearzoneofcytolysisdefinestheseparationplane.Bothcellandbasementmembranesattheperipheryofthiszoneseemtoinfold.Thelocationofterminalbarsintheadulteyelikewiseparallelstheembryonicsituation.Somepreliminaryobservationsofembryoniccellsandtheirinclusionsarealsoreported.Smallparticleswereoccasionalfeaturesoftheopticcupandectodermalongtheirzoneofapproximation.
