Evaluation of Change in Attenuation Coefficient of Cerrobend Block Used for Radiation Protection of Healthy Tissues in Megavoltage Photon Radiation Therapy after Multiple Melting
[摘要] BackgroundandObjective:Protectingthevitalorgansinradiationtherapyisoneofthemostimportantissues.Cerrobendalloy,themostcommonmaterialusedastheshield,ismeltedseveraltimesandusedfordifferentpatients.Inthisstudychangesinattenuationcoefficientofcerrobendduetomeltingwasinvestigated.SubjectsandMethods:Inmeltingfurnace,cerrobendwasmelteduptoninetimesandirradiatedbyVarianacceleratoratradiotherapydepartmentofGolestanhospitalandthedosewasmeasuredbyCC-13ionizationchamberwithandwithoutcerrobendblocks.Theattenuationcoefficientsofcerrobendblocksweremeasuredforirradiationfieldsof6×6cm2and10×10cm2atthephotonenergiesof6mvand18mvandanalyzedbystatisticalmethods.Results:ResultsofregressionanalysiswithPgt;0.05,indicatedthattherewasasignificantrelationshipbetweentheattenuationcoefficientandfrequenciesofcerrobendmelting:theattenuationcoefficientincreaseswiththeincreasingfrequencyofcerrobendmelting.Conclusion:Continuousincreasinginthefrequencyofcerrobendmeltingleadstoincreaseintheattenuationcoefficientofcerrobendblock,thuscerrobendblockscanbeusedforpatients,safely.
