Nest Success of Black-Winged Stilt Himantopus himantopus and Kentish Plover Charadrius alexandrinus in Rice Fields, Southwest Spain
[摘要] WemonitorednestsofKentishPloverCharadriusalexandrinusandBlack-wingedStiltHimantopushimantopusbreedinginricefieldsneartheDoñanaNationalPark(southwestSpain)duringthebreedingseasons2005–2007.Weusedalogistic-exposuremethodtocalculatenestsuccessandexamineddailynestsurvivalasafunctionofyear,locality,nestage,anddate.Nestsuccesswasalsocalculatedusingamodelassumingconstantnestsurvivalthroughtime(equivalenttotheMayfieldmethod).DailynestsurvivalincreasedduringincubationinBlack-wingedStilt,probablyduetoahigherpredationriskduringthefirstdaysofincubation.DailynestsurvivalinKentishPlovershowedlittlevariationinrelationtonestage,suggestingaconstantbutlowerpredationrate.NestsurvivalalsovariedwithdateinKentishPloverandshowedhighervaluesinthemiddleofthenestingseason.ThenestsuccessofBlack-wingedStiltandKentishPloverbreedinginricefields(50%and45%,respectively,basedontheMayfieldmethod)waswithintherangeofnestsuccessreportedinstablepopulationsbreedinginnaturalhabitats.TheobservationssuggestthatricefieldsadjacenttothemarshesoftheDoñanaNationalParkareanimportantadditionalbreedinghabitatforthetwowaderspeciesstudied.
