Attitudes Toward Cardiovascular Disease Risk Factors Among Patients Referred to a Cardiac Rehabilitation Center: Importance of Psychological Attitudes

[摘要] Background:Patients’understandingofheartdiseasesandtheirrelatedexperiencescanaffecteducationandpreventionofcoronaryheartdiseases.Asthepatients’beliefsplayacrucialroleinthedevelopmentofeffectivetherapeuticrelationship,psychologicaladjustment,andcompliancewithtreatmentrecommendations.Objectives:ThepurposeofthisstudywastoinvestigatetheattitudestowardpsychologicalriskfactorsforcardiovasculardiseaseamongpatientsreferredtoacardiacrehabilitationcenterinImamAliHospitalinKermanshah,IranPatientsandMethods:Thiscross-sectionalstudywasperformedon775patientsreferredtoacardiacrehabilitationunitinImamAlihospitalinKermanshah,Iran.Datawerecollectedusingclinicalinterview,patients’medicalrecords,andMillonclinicalmultiaxialinventory(MCMI-III),andanalyzedbydescriptivestatistics,includingmean,standarddeviation,andchi‐squaretest.StatisticalanalyseswereperformedusingSPSSsoftwareversion18Results:Thepatientsbelievedthatthemaincauseoftheirillnessisbehavioralriskfactors(42.0%).Then,theyreferredtopsychological(36.3%),biological(4.3%),andenvironmental(3.8%)factors,respectively.10.4%ofthepatientswerenotawareofthecauseoftheirillness.Also,stressisthemostimportantfactoramongthepsychologicalfactors(27.5%).Theresultsshowedthattherewasasignificantdifferenceamongthepatientsintermoffourattitudes(χ2=820.356;Plt;0.01);andbehavioralandpsychologicalattitudes(χ2=6.025;Plt;0.05).Infact,thepatientsidentifiedbehavioralproblemsasthemaincauseoftheirillness.Conclusions:Accordingtothepatients’attitudes,afterthebehavioralfactors,psychologicalfactorsarethesecondcauseofheartdiseases.Therefore,ignoringthesefactorsbymembersofthemedicalteamsmayleadtoapoorperformanceofthetreatments.Asthesefactorsarecontrollable,learningtocontrolandmanagethemcanpreventthedevelopmentofsubsequentcardiovascularevents.
