Poliomyelitis

[摘要] 1. 1. Large batches of virus prepared by grinding and mixing many cords, preserved in 50 per cent sterile glycerine, retain a constant infectivity for at least twelve to eighteen months.2. 2. A practical method for standardization of virus and immune serum is suggested.3. 3. It is possible and practical to prepare large amounts of neutralized mixtures of virus and serum of known and constant value.4. 4. Nine of twelve animals inoculated intramuscularly and subcutaneously with neutralized mixture of serum and virus developed sufficent immune substance in their blood serum so that 0.5 cc. of the serum neutralized ten infective doses of the virus.5. 5. It is suggested that the reasons for the higher incidence of immune response obtained, may lie in the ratio of serum to virus in these mixtures.
