Ecological Studies of Individual Variation in the Various Characters of Upland-cultured Paddy Rice

[摘要] Relationships between yields and individual variation of various characters in plant community were studied in upland-cultured paddy rice. In this experiment two tillage methods, four seeding time and two plant densities were adopted to cause individual variation in the various characters of upland-cultured paddy rice.The results are as follows:1. The individual variation of each character under deep tillage with heavy manure was not so different with that under normal tillage with standard manure (Table 4).2. In the late seeding time individual variation in each characters was small as compared with early seeding time, when reproductive growth progressed well (Table 6).3. A large individual variation in each character at early seeding time was caused by long growing period or severe competition.4. Individual variation in each character was strongly influenced by seeding time or plant density, on the other hand, it was not influenced by tillage method or rice variety.5. Individual variation of dry weight of upland-cultured paddy rice was not related to dry weight.
