From concept to product in cardiology
[摘要] As academic physicians and researchers, we are expected to try to valorise basic concepts and turn them into useful products. Despite the general call from the public for these initiatives and an encouraging stimulation package from the Ministry of Economic Affairs there are counterbalancing forces that are keeping researchers from going along the arduous path of claiming intellectual property (IP), filing for a patent, and seeking funding for the initial translation steps from idea to product. Although the ministry of economic affairs has stimulated the further development of the ‘knowledge economy’ with impressive funding, the academic centres have difficulties in implanting the new way of thinking into daily practice.
